Kittitas County Sheriffs Deputies have recovered the body of Mike Albertson this morning from the Hawkins Mountain area, 27 miles N.W. of Cle Elum,
Mr. Albertson was snowmobiling in the Hawkins bowel shortly after noon on Saturday the 4th when he and another man were caught in a large avalanche. The second man was located quickly, as his head and arm were visible. He was dug out by other in the area. Unfortunately it took about 1/2 hour to locate Mr. Albertson, who had impacted a tree and was completely buried. Life saving measures were unsuccessful.
2 Attempts to respond by helicopter were hampered by weather and the decision was made to use Search & Rescue ground teams this morning.
