Can I drop off inmate medication?

Yes, medication will need to be brought to the front door of Kittitas County Jail. The medication can be brought in their own prescribed bottle or bubble pack. The medication must be a valid prescription and not expired. Any medications without a valid prescription or that are expired will be denied and returned to the individual dropping off the medication. Medication mixed with other medication or outside of the prescribed bottle will be denied as well. 

How do I Bail or Bond an inmate out of jail?

Contact Kittitas County Jail at 509-962-7527 for an individual bail amount.

Kittitas County Jail is a 24/7 facility that accepts bail at any time of the day.  

An individual can have a no bail which means that the judge has yet to apply a bail amount to the case.

An individual can have a Cash/Bond Bail which means that the courts have placed a bail amount for which the individual can be bailed out on. There is three ways an individual can bail out.

1. Bail can be posted at the front door of KCJ. An exact cash amount for the listed bail can be brought to the front door. The bail will be processed and a receipt for the bail will be given to the inmate at time of release. The inmate will walk out the front door of KCJ once the release paperwork has been processed.
2. Bail can be posted thru a bail bond company.  There are many bail bond companies authorized to write a bond in Kittitas County. There is a fee for writing the bond and it is not refundable. The fee is between you and the bonding company. Kittitas County Jail does not provide referrals to any specific bond company. Inmates have access to Bail Bond Companies phone numbers
3. Bail can be posted online by going to Allpaid https://allpaid.com.  Allpaid accepts major credit, debit, and prepaid debit cards. Allpaid can also be contacted by phone as well at 1-888-604-7888 or 1-877-392-2455 for personal assistance with the bail. The cardholders will need to pay a service fee – 7% of the bail total - at the time of the transaction.

How do I call an inmate?

Unfortunately we cannot take messages for an inmate. It will be up to the inmate to contact you via the telephone or mail.

How do I collect an inmates property?

Inmates can release property to an individual. A property release form must be filled out, signed, and turned in by the inmate prior to picking up any items. The recipients must stop by the jail to pick up the property. You must provide photo ID for identification purposes to receive the property. We do not mail inmate property. The recipient’s name must be on the release form before the items can be release. The recipient must sign for the items.

How do I find out an inmate's court date?

Kittitas County Jail does not have any information pertaining to an inmate’s court date until the day of. To find out information for inmate court date please contact the court in which the inmate charges are from. (509-962-7511) (509-962-7531) (509-674-533).

How do I put funds into an inmate's account?

Inmate Accounts

Kittitas County Jail provides different avenues for family members and friends to add money on inmate’s phone account or/and commissary account. Inmates have access to phone use and the ability to make commissary orders every day during their out time. Inmates also have access to check their accounts and verify if money has been added to their accounts.

 

Inmates Phone Account

CTEL is the phone company that handles inmates phone service. To add funds to inmates phones family members and friends can go through the website www.inmatesales.com. Funds can also be done thru phone by calling 1-877-998-5678.

Inmate Commissary Account

To add funds to inmate’s commissary account family members and friends can visit www.JailATM.com. If assistance is need when adding funds to inmate’s commissary account online call 870-627-5476.Customer service will not add any funds to inmate’s commissary accounts thru the phone.  Family members and friends can also add cash to inmate’s account by coming to KCJ lobby and using the black kiosk. The kiosk does accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards as long as there is a valid driver’s license.

There is also the option to send commissary directly to inmates by visiting www.JailATM.com. Items ordered thru the website will be directly delivered to the inmate every week.

How do I send a letter to an inmate?

ANY MAIL DEEMED TO NOT MEET THE BELOW GUIDELINES WILL BE DESTROYED

1. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID.
2. All incoming mail must have a return address on the envelope.
3. All incoming mail must be no larger than 8 ½ x 11 inches (letter size), no thicker than light card stock and able to be fed through a sheet fed scanner.
4. All incoming mail should be opened and inspected or read to determine if contraband is enclosed or any violation of prison rules has occurred. If such is found mail will be destroyed and not returned.

   5. Threats of physical harm against any person or threats/details of criminal activity
   6. Plans to smuggle contraband into or out of the institution.

   8. Solicitation of gifts, goods, money, or things of value from individuals or entitles other than family or established close friends.
   9. Code or gang insignia
   10. Obscene language or drawings
   11. Information that, if communicated, would create a threat to the security of the institution.
   12. None of the following may be included or attached.
       1. Address labels
       2. Stickers
       3.  Homemade cards
       4.  Musical cards
       5.  Non-white envelopes or paper
       6. Painting
       7. Tracing paper
       8.  Pages from coloring books
       9. Drawings in colored ink, marker, crayons, or glitter
       10. Raised decorations.
       11. Paint or the use of white out, glue, or any other liquid form
6. Pictures are the only enclosures permitted to be mailed to inmates at the Kentucky P.O. Box.
   1. Each inmate is allowed up to 10 photographs per package, but these MUST be printed on photo paper.
   2. Provocative Material
      1. Are not permitted and will destroyed.
      2. Provocative is generally defined as follows: “Causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction” or “arousing sexual desire or interest.”

How do I set up a telephone account?

Communicating with Inmates

Kittitas County Jail strives to keep family members in touch with inmates as much as possible. To accomplish this, KCJ has partnered up with CTEL. CTEL provides family members the ability to place money on inmates account (For information go to Inmate Account tab) for inmates to make phone calls. Phone calls must be initiated by the inmate.

            CTEL provides family members the ability to send Emails to an inmate by downloading the INMATE SALES application on smartphone or tablets.

Chirping Device

CTEL also provides a new system for inmates called Chirping. Chirping is a device that if requested by inmates can be provided to them. The Chirping device allows inmates to send text messages to family members. The chirping device allows inmates to send a certain amount of free text messages at the beginning. The inmate has 3 days after receiving the device to have funds be add to it. Funds can be added at www.inmatesales.com.

There is a monthly fee for the device and services, that will be deducted automatically. There are also flat rates for the messages. All fee charges for Chirp devices can be found on www.inmatesales.com website.

Family members can still send mail to inmates. All mail incoming to the jail will no longer be accepted at the KCJ mailing address. All mail will be routed and scanned by an outside company.

 

How do I visit an inmate?

Video Visitation

Visits are by appointment only and are set up by the visitors. All visits MUST be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.  All visitors must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by a legal guardian. The visitor may be asked to provide proof of legal guardianship.  KCJ offers two types of visits with inmates, onsite and at-home. Visitation hours are Sun-Sat 9AM to 2PM.

To schedule a visit visitor can do it through the monitors in KCJ lobby, online at www.inmatesales.com or by calling 1-877-998-5678.

Visitation Policy

Inmate visitation is a privilege. Any violation of the visitation policy will have their visitation terminated for an undetermined time and will be hand case by case.

1. All rules set forth for non-contact visitation shall be adhered to when using the video visitation.
2. Proper attire is required. No low-cut blouse or tank tops, short skirts or dresses, tight shorts, hats, or any other form of provocative dress will be allowed. Shirts and shoes must be worn.
3. All visitors must provide proper state or government issued photo identification (i.e. driver’s license, foreign ID or passports) for inmate visitation.
4. Any sexual, profane, or inappropriate behavior shall result in loss of video visitation privileges for the visitor and/or inmate.
5. An adult must accompany all visitors who are under 17 years of age. Children must be monitored at all times.
6. Visitors are subject to a pat-down search prior to entering the visitation area based on jail policies.
   1. Any visitor who refuses this search will be denied entry to visit.
7. Smoking, food, or drinks are NOT allowed in the visitation areas.
8. No personal contact visits are allowed with inmates
9. Any disruptive or inappropriate behavior by a visitor can result in termination of visitation privileges.
10. All visitations On-site and Off-site are recorded and are subject to being monitored.
    1. By engaging in a visitation, you consent to the recording.
    2. Service provider shall not be liable for the unauthorized use or disclosure of recorded visitation.

 

Onsite Visits:

• Visitors can come to KCJ lobby and set up a visit themselves using one of the visit booths located in the lobby.
• There are limited slots available during specific hours so it’s a first come, first serve basis.
• Visits last 30 minutes.
• Onsite visits are free.
• Visits must be set up during inmates out time. Visits scheduled outside of this time will be canceled by jail staff.

At-Home Visits:

• Visitors unable to or not wanting to come to KCJ lobby can set up a visit by going to www.inmatesales.com.
• There are limited slots available during specific hours so it’s a first come, first serve basis.
• Visits last 30 minutes.
• At-Home visits have a fee of $0.20 a minute.
• Visits must be set up during inmates out time. Visits scheduled outside of this time will be canceled by jail staff
• Visitor can schedule multiple visits on any given day as long as they are schedule during inmate out time.

After choosing one of the products provided, it will show your personal information which you can verify, and at the bottom of the screen it will ask you for the inmate’s name and how much of the product you want to buy.

Inmates Program

The Kittitas County Judicial System and Kittitas County Jail believe in giving inmates an opportunity to continue being a productive part of the community while being incarcerated. KCJ provides opportunities for minimum security inmates to work off site for County Maintenance, Public Works, Fairgrounds Department and Solid Waste. These programs are a privilege and maybe terminated at any time. We also provide programs for: work release, GED preparation, school release, and inmate work crew.

·         GED preparation: A program that allows individuals to prepare themselves for a high school diploma or a GED certification. Currently Kittitas County Jail is not a testing facility, therefore cannot provide an actual GED certification.

·         Inmate Worker: A program that allows individuals to work within the jail. Individuals in this program have the opportunity to learn new skills or reinforce skills. Individuals will need to be sentenced to apply and be approved. Once approved the individual will receive additional good time (days off their sentence).

·         Work/School Release: A program that allows individuals to continue working or going to school while still doing their time at jail. Applications for this program can be found here: Application

Kittitas County Jail also believes that to be a productive part of the community, inmates need peace of mind. KCJ also provides opportunities to reach that.

·         Religious Services: They are offered in both group and one on one setting based on classification level every Wednesday and Sunday (Services are subject to change). Inmates also have access to writing letters to the jail chaplain. The jail chaplain can write and speak with individuals on various issues that individuals might be experiences such as a death of a family member while incarcerated. If there are religious needs the Chaplain of the jail regardless of the religion will coordinate services if they are available.

·         AA/NA: Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from addictions. These programs are offered by a group of volunteers who come into the jail to assist those in need and is conducted in a group setting from lower classification levels, or on a one on one level for those with higher classification levels. ·         Hub and Spoke: Is a medical assistance treatment that treats opiate use disorder. Individuals currently or wanting to be involved with opiate use disorder treatment can request a consultation with the coordinator of the program. The coordinator of Hub and Spoke can assist with a variety of resources that may be available to individuals. Hub and Spoke helps reduce recidivism and stop long term drug use. ·         Medically Assistant Treatment: (MAT): Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Medications used in MAT are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and MAT programs are clinically driven and tailored to meet each patient’s needs.

·         Merit: Is a treatment that assist individuals with substance use. Merit also assist individuals in programs like care coordination, outreach, and groups like AA/NA. Merit help individuals with treatment or access to services soon or upon release. For more information about local Merit services go to https://www.meritresources.org/.

·         Hope Source: Hope Source is a program that assists with moving people to self-sufficiency by providing access to education, employment, economic development, and vital services. The second chance community-based re-entry programs purpose is to provide transitional community-supported re-entry services. This includes quality of life and self-sufficiency skills through transitional case management, employment, housing, family reunification, community involvement, connection to physical health, mental health and substance use providers. The coordinator for this program can assist individuals with a variety of resources that maybe available to individuals. ·         Comprehensive Mental Health: Comprehensive Healthcare has an extensive history of providing jail-based behavioral health treatment. Comprehensive has provided outpatient and crisis mental health care to Kittitas County residents since 1976. Comprehensive’s Designated Crisis Responders (DCR) have evaluated inmates at the Kittitas County Jail (KCJ) for the past 45 years. Comprehensive Healthcare is committed to provision of innovation integrated healthcare, community education and service to individuals, families, and organizations. What items can inmates purchase?

Inmates can purchase phone time, commissary, chirps, stamps, and hygiene products. Inmates get provided with all the necessary information to purchase such items. To add money to an inmate account, go to Inmate Accounts.
