Homelessness & Affordable Housing

Safe and affordable housing is important for health. In Kittitas County the cost of housing is growing faster than household income. Many families spend more than 50% of their income on housing. This is also called severe housing cost burden.

Every 3 years we create a report called the Community Health Assessment (CHA). This report talks about the current health of our community. The 2022 report found that 19% of households in Kittitas County face severe housing cost burden. This is 6% higher than the state average of 13%.

Homelessness & Affordable Housing Committee

The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) created the Homelessness & Affordable Housing Committee (HAHC) in 2008. This committee gives recommendations to the BOCC on how to use housing funds. HAHC aims to break down barriers to housing for people in need. They meet once per month on the first Monday.
