Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 02/27/2025 - The Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications from citizens interested in advising the County on how much it should pay its Elected Officials (excluding Judges and County Commissioners).
The Citizen's Advisory Committee on Salaries for Elected Officials will be responsible for making compensation recommendations for the positions of Elected Auditor, Assessor, Clerk, Coroner, Sheriff, and Treasurer. The committee's recommendations will be subject to review and final decision by the Board of County Commissioners. The Advisory Committee is intended to be an independent body and will be provided administrative support by the Kittitas County Human Resources Department. The committee will be made up of nine members; one member will be appointed from each of the three Commissioner districts. Four at-large members will be selected with experience in personnel management. These members will be appointed by majority vote of the Board of County Commissioners. Two Advisory Committee members shall be reserved for the local chapters of the Republic Party and Democratic Party. Each party shall be provided a single position on the committee and may select one party member to participate. Appointment to the Advisory Committee shall be for the duration of the project. Committee members cannot include any officer, official, or employee of Kittitas County. Family members of Elected Officials or anyone residing in the same household as an Elected Official are also disqualified. The committee is slated to begin work immediately and to make recommendations for the 2026 budget. All meetings of the committee are open to the public.
