Kittitas County Search and Rescue Finalist for Defender Service Award

Kittitas County, WA - 10/02/2024 - Kittitas County Search and Rescue, a non-profit, wholly volunteer organization that aids the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office in Search and Rescue operations, has been selected as one of five finalists for the 2024 Land Rover Defender Service Award.

The Defender Service Award recognizes service organizations from all over North America in five categories, including Search and Rescue. Category winner receive a customized Land Rover Defender and $25,000 in support of their mission. KCSR was nominated by Motion State Productions, a video production company owned by Amber & Corey Koniniec of Cle Elum. Motion State submitted a three-minute video about KCSR's people and operations, posted for viewing at the Land Rover Defender award website. The public can vote for finalists once each day from Oct. 2-17. 

KCSR volunteers perform a tremendously outsized service for a rural county like Kittitas, answering scores of calls at all hours and rescuing dozens of outdoor recreators and other lost people every year. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office routinely depends on KCSR and asks residents of our county, and the neighboring counties whose people KCSR often aids, to support this award nomination.
