Overlegal Permit

There are two types of Overlegal Permits that can be obtained from the Kittitas County Public Works.

Washington State Oversize / Overlegal Vehicle Permit

The Public Works office acts as a liaison to the Washington State Department of Transportation permitting office located in Cle Elum, Washington. To obtain this permit the applicant must have a credit card.

Special Motor Vehicle Permit

Kittitas County uses this permit to authorize overweight, over height, and over width vehicles onto the County Roads. These are the general specifications that are followed:

Overwidth	Requires Permit Overwidth includes any vehicle or load over 8.5 feet wide Maximum width allowed is 12 feet on County Roads (RCW 46.44.010; KCC 10.16.050) FEE: $ 3.00
Overweight	Requires Permit Legal Capacity 80,000 lbs. 6,000 lbs over legal capacity     $ .10 per mile 12,000 lbs over legal capacity   $ .20 per mile 18,000 lbs over legal capacity   $ .30 per mile 24,000 lbs over legal capacity   $ .50 per mile 36,000 lbs over legal capacity   $ .90 per mile over 36,000 lbs over legal capacity   $ 1.10 per mile
Overlength	Requires Permit FEE: No Charge
Overheight	Requires Permit FEE: No Charge
Overhang	Requires Permit FEE: No Charge
Mobile Homes/ Manufactured Homes	Requires Permit Call Public Works Department for Specifications (509) 962-7523
