Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 09/11/2017 - The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) is working in collaboration with the Kittitas County Health Network (KCHN) to create a county wide community health assessment. The Community Health Assessment (CHA) is an assessment of the county’s health, which occurs every five years, in order to make improvements to community health through collaboration with partners.
In 2012, KCPHD completed the first assessment. The 2012 CHA includes a vision and values statement, a description of Kittitas County, information from multiple assessments, and identified strategic issues. The top issues in 2012 were coordination and communication among local public health system partners, improving the quality and affordability of health care, increasing access to preventative care and support healthy behaviors, and improving knowledge and capacity to manage stress in a healthy way. To review the 2012 CHA report visit http://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/uploads/documents/health/assessment/2012-Kittitas-County-Community-Health-Profile.pdf The first 2017 CHA meeting occurred on June 29, 2017 with twenty-six partners in attendance from various agencies in the county. The partners will update the vision and values statement, gather information, and identify strategic issues. Ultimately, the committee will formulate goals, which will be addressed in the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). “We want the community to be able to watch our progress,” states Adrienne Jensen from HopeSource. Ms. Jensen is leading the communication task force for the project. “This is a really big process and we want people to be involved and know about the work that is happening.” The CHA should be finalized by December of 2017.
