Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 09/11/2017 - The Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center, at the recommendation of the Fire Team, anticipates lowering the evacuation levels early this week in specific areas affected by the Jolly Mountain Fire.
West Fork and Middle Fork Teanaway areas - Teanaway Meadows, all county roads in Middle Fork, Wagon Wheel area, and West Fork to include Dingbat. On Monday, Risk Assessment Teams will be dispatched to inspect the utilities, soil stability and any sanitation and public health issues to ensure the areas are safe to open to the public. Assuming all inspections go well, the Teanaway areas listed above will be reopened on Tuesday (9/12) at 9:00am with a Level 2 advisory still in place. Residents will be allowed back into their homes at this time. West Fork Road and Middle Fork Road will have road closure signs but will be open to residents and local traffic only. The North Fork of the Teanaway will remain at a Level 3 notice and the current road closure will be moved to the Dickey Creek Snow Park. Lower Lake Cle Elum areas – all residences south of Bear Creek, including Driftwood Acres and Pine Loch Sun. On Tuesday, Risk Assessment Teams will be dispatched to inspect the utilities, soil stability and any sanitation and public health issues to ensure the areas are safe to open to the public. It is expected that on Wednesday (9/13) at 12:00pm, the lower Lake Cle Elum areas will be reopened with a Level 2 advisory still in place. Residents will be allowed back into their homes at this time. The upper Salmon La Sac Road will remain at a Level 3 notice and the road closure will be moved to the intersection of White Fir Drive and Salmon La Sac Road. The current road closure on Ridgecrest Road will remain in place. Road closures West Fork Road and Middle Fork Road will have road closure signs but will be open to residents and local traffic only.
