Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 08/19/2014 - Effective at 12pm today, the Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center will remove all evacuation notices for the Snag Canyon Fire, which is now 81% contained. Road closures will remain in place in consideration of fire personnel and equipment still working in the fire area.
Current road closures are at Smithson Road and Robbins Road, Wilson Creek and Naneum Roads at Charlton Road, Cooke Canyon and Colockum Roads at Gage Road, and Reecer Creek Road at Forest Service Road 3500. Local traffic is permitted on these roads. Schnebly Canyon, Coleman Canyon, and the Naneum State Forest are also still closed at this time. The Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest also has an Area Closure adjacent to the fire. These road closures will continue to be evaluated by EOC personnel and fire managers as more progress is made on daily fire activity.
